PROJECT: New Headquarters, Ocean Village

Marina Developments Limited (MDL) are one of the biggest premium berthing and boatyard services providers in the country, with 19 marinas located right across the south coast from Plymouth to Suffolk. SMD were appointed as QS on the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the existing Yacht Club building into MDL’s brand new Headquarters in Ocean Village, Southampton.

Project Brief

The aim was to transform the existing Yacht Club into a state of the art HQ for MDL; this included a complete overhaul of the internal layout, as well as a new IT and AV installations. 

In addition to the office space, the existing conference suite located two floors above was transformed into a luxury 3-bedroom apartment. This also involved significant reconfiguration, including new walls, M&E services alterations, new windows and decoration throughout.

Project Solution / Outcome

The most significant challenge on this project was the tight programme, with the offices needing to be completed in order for the end users to move in before the Southampton Boat Show in September. The project was delivered within programme and on budget.
