PROJECT: The Roundhouse, Northney Marina

Marina Developments Limited (MDL) are one of the biggest premium berthing and boatyard services providers in the country, with 19 marinas located right across the South coast from Plymouth to Suffolk. SMD were appointed as QS on the refurbishment and reconfiguration of the existing Roundhouse from offices and retail into luxury 2, 3 and 4 bed apartments on Hayling Island.

Project Brief

SMD were appointed for QS services for the reconfiguration of the existing Roundhouse building from offices and retail units into 23 luxury apartments. This included demolishing existing internal walls, building new structural walls and internal partitions, upgrading the M&E services and drainage, full internal decoration and external works.

Project Solution / Outcome

This was an interesting and challenging project, as the building is situated within a working marina. In addition, the first lockdown in the UK occurred halfway through construction. Despite this and given the quality of the project overall, the scheme was expanded mid-construction to include a wider scope of external works. Despite these challenges, the project was delivered on budget.
